Coursework
Ever since I finished my coursework, I have given it very little thought. I doodled my interpretation of young Hitler in my notes, but other than that it was completely forgotten. I never had the chance to talk about my experience of accomplishing such a big project (it’s big to me.)
At the start of the project, I knew practically nothing about this guy named Hitler, except that he killed millions of Jews, and practically everyone hates him. (Some of my seniors wanted to name their group after Hitler, and their justification was that Hitler was a great leader, and they were quickly slammed for their “deviant” thinking.) So, I wonder to myself, why so much emotion about this guy who lived decades ago? Why do people react so strongly to that guy? And why does his name keep popping up in things that I read? My moral ethic notes, literature, and even my comic books mention Hitler. What’s the big hoohah? I mean, come one, he is just some guy who happened to do al these bad things. Everyone has a bad side, everyone has a good side. No one EVER says anything good about him, do they? Okay, maybe upon some thought, people would say “uhh… he’s a good orator,” but other than that, nothing. I thought that there has to be more to this guy than some Jew hating mass murderer, and no one is born evil. (Note: Christianity says that we are born sinners, but it never said anything being born evil. It’s different.) So, I did some research on his life, and then I realized that there are a lot of people out there who also wanted to know about Hitler in his younger days, hence the large amounts of information available on the internet. (I also found out that the school is really paranoid about Nazi material. Huh.)
I learned a lot about his life. I tried to understand the personality he had when he was younger. Quite an interesting person, not too bad, but not someone I would want to get to know. He did wonderful water colour paintings. He liked Disney movies. (Wasn’t some of the disney movies commissioned by the government to lift the mood of the depression? And isn’t Hitler causing a lot of the depression at that time? Oh the irony.)
From this coursework, I got to understand a lot about Hitler in his younger days. He seems very ordinary to me, in many not unfamiliar. Who would be able to point out a future mass murderer who is still in his youth? No one knows. What I wanted to do with my coursework, was something along the lines of, “Hey, let me tell you a story about this fellow.” And the comic goes on, and most people get bored because it’s so uninteresting, so mundane. It’s slightly tragic, and so maybe that might be a tiny plot or something, and in the end, I want to tell my readers, “You know what? I haven’t mentioned the name of that person. His name is Adolf Hitler.” and wait for the reaction. Most people believe that I made it up. I only made up some of it. Some of the lines aren’t even written by me, if you catch my drift.
All in all, I thought it was a good experience in drawing comics. I found out how much hard panelling was, and the feedback I got was that Comic Sans is an ugly font. I will keep that in mind for next time. Also, I managed to break past the 4 page barrier! (Whenever I draw comics, I can never get past the 4th page.)

Hey this is unrelated but I just wanted to say that I really loved your coursework! It ave me shivers by the end, especially because of the last page, the three figures saluting Hitler was chilling and very fitting, and the texture details were beautiful.

I really think your coursework was very well done! It has that attractive “Monster Allergy” style and looks really professional. I really liked the final epilogue best, as the background, mood and atmosphere was perfect. Awesome job! (:

@themiaobureau: No, it’s not unrelated because it’s still about my coursework. XD Thanks a lot. I’m glad you understood what happened, cause most people just went, “Huh? That’s it?” Did you see one of the pages where the red texture was right smack on Hitler’s face, and it looked like Hitler has a hideous scar like Zuko. XD
@Xin Yan: Thank you.
I checked out the Monster allergy website, and the art style is really cute. (although the eyes are way bigger. 8D )
I paid a lot of attention to the colours to get the mood right, and I’m very glad that you liked it.
Thanks for the nice comments guys!
